Hiring too junior a resource to own product is almost always a huge mistake according to Jason Lemkin.
I agree with him on the critical aspect of product ownership in any organization. And on the importance of having an senior person in this position when the company can afford it.
The head of the product function has to constantly negotiate, or assert himself, in front of Sales, Engineering, and Product Support or Customer Success departments. A very complex responsibility to assume if you don't already have some experience.
