I have always enjoyed the communication that Buffer provides regarding its own internal organization. There is a lot of interest in looking at their choices, sometimes quite bold, and the consequences they draw from them.
This post from Joel Gascoigne, co-founder and CEO, announces their plan to recruit a VP of Product. In doing so, he summarizes the path they have taken in their product management since the first MVP ten years earlier.
The story is compelling and instructive. Gascoigne then goes into detail about what he expects from a VP of Product, and the limitations of being a CEO in charge of the product at this stage of Buffer's development.
